
JH HAL (High Ability Learners) took a visit to the Perkins Co. Food Pantry. Next week they will host a Food Drive at the Elementary. The JH HAL students will count, sort and transport donated items to the Food Pantry where they will help stock the shelves.

Kindergarten Social Studies:
Students wrapped up their “Past and Present Unit” and “Christopher Columbus and Pilgrims Unit” by making stone soup and homemade butter. They enjoyed a feast!”


This semester Kenna Busick has an internship with Mr. Hite in Elementary P.E. Today she and Mr. Reisig covered Mr. Hite’s class. Mr. Reisig was the substitute teacher and observed as Kenna led the class. He was super-proud of her teaching skills and leadership! #plainsmenpride


8th Gr. Science:
Students crafted Thanksgiving turkeys out of popcorn, marshmallows and Hot Tamales (physical change). Fortunately, there was some extra food for the students to eat (chewing = physical change | digestion = chemical change).

“The Science of Happiness” for 6th gr. was this month’s Enrichment Activity (through our HAL dept.). Students wrote letters of gratitude and rated their pre and post-activity levels of happiness. It’s no surprise that happiness increased as a result of showing gratitude.
